MARK WARREN JACQUES
B. 1984 Columbus, Ohio, USA
Mark Warren Jacques is an American artist, author, and inventor working at the intersection of systems thinking and creativity. A polymath with studies in art, design, philosophy, physics, and computer science, his work has earned national recognition—from an early appearance as a kid inventor on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno to major grants from the Paul G. Allen Foundation and GCAC. His fine art has been exhibited in dozens of exhibitions across the United States and abroad, with highlights including the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. and Art Basel. His diverse output spans a wide range of domains: from large-scale murals to collaborations with global brands like GAP and Nike, to AI research, poetry, and theoretical papers on the nature of consciousness. Jacques is a recipient of the Ohio Arts Council’s Individual Excellence Award (2025) and was awarded a full-tuition university scholarship from the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, among other honors. Today, he continues to build projects and shape a life centered around curiosity, learning, and inquiry.
L I F E (in his own words)
born sideways
possibly on a skateboard
spent the sponge years (age 5 → current) absorbing:
Hesse, Huxley,
Poe, Plath,
Fermi, Feynman,
& so many others (see recommended reading)
(age 13) invented magnetic paint,
won the national invention convention,
got paid my first royalties for my thinking,
and got a kiss from Pamela Anderson on live national television (true story)
drew a beautiful line (age 16) →
it turned into a road,
kept walking →
it became a life.
still painting, inventing, and writing poems from first principles (is that even possible?).
I BELIEVE IN:
– beauty
– making what one can,
with what one has
– naturally occurring ideas
(write them down!)
– every human holds endless potential
(positive and negative)
– sharing is caring
STATED PROFESSION:
idea machine
GOALS:
make something that outlives the name attached to it
REMEMBERING:
even time is temporary
